Andy is a dentist who has undertaken specialist training in Orthodontics. Since graduating in 2008 from Dublin dental hospital he gained a broad and varied experience in all fields of dentistry with a particular focus on Orthodontics.
Andy’s passion has always been for Orthodontics, and in 2012 he was offered a position on the prestigious Orthodontic Specialist training programme at the University of Liverpool. He was also an honorary clinical lecturer and involved in the teaching of dental undergraduate students.
When completing specialist training all orthodontists have to sit national final exams. Andy was awarded the 2015 William Houston Gold Medal for achieving the highest mark out of all the orthodontists sitting the exams in the UK.
On top of his specialist training he also obtained a Doctorate in Orthodontics at Liverpool University Dental Hospital which has provided him with a high level of knowledge on treating complex and difficult cases.
Andy has received many national awards from the British Orthodontic Society for his research into Tooth decay in orthodontic patients. These include the 2014 JJ Thompson research prize and the 2016 Houston Postgraduate scholar award. Andy has presented his research at both a national and international level and his work has been published in an international orthodontic journal.
Andy provides a wide range of Orthodontic treatments at Rose Lane Dental Practice including conventional metal fixed braces, clear fixed braces, lingual fixed braces, 6 Month Smiles®, and removable orthodontic aligners (Invisalign® and Autograph).
Mike graduated with honors from the Liverpool University Dental School in 2009 with several prizes including the University Prize in Dental Surgery for finishing top of his year. He enjoys all aspects of dentistry and has undertaken hospitals posts in general duties and restorative dentistry as well as general practice and has published papers in a number of fields. His main focus has always been in restorative dentistry and in particular endodontics and he was appointed Clinical Lecturer in Restorative Dentistry at Liverpool University Dental Hospital in April 2013 and then as a Speciality Registrar in Endodontics in September 2014. He has recently completed in his final year of specialist training and is currently finishing his doctoral thesis on CBCT in difficult endodontic cases.
In addition to his training Mike has spent much of his time teaching undergraduates, dental core trainees and generalists as well as giving presentations and lectures at local, regional and national events. He ran two well received workshops at the BDA conference on simplifying endodontic treatment for the general dentist and lectured on post endodontic restorations at the My Dentist conference in Birmingham.
Mike has been part of the team at Rose Lane for the last few years and is happy to accept referrals for all aspects of endodontic treatment, including diagnosis, primary RCT, re-treatment cases, removal of posts and instruments, perforation repair, open apex/trauma cases and endodontic surgery including apical surgery and surgical repair of resorption defects. He also maintains an interest in the restorative aspects of endodontically treated teeth and can provide post, cores and indirect restorations upon request.
Ian is a Specialist Periodontist and Senior Clinical Teacher at Liverpool University. He was Undergraduate Teaching lead at Liverpool from 2010 to 2015 and was responsible for developing the undergraduate course as it stands today.
Ian is also heavily involved in post-graduate teaching both at Liverpool and nationally. He provides one-one surgical training for the Restorative Registrars at Liverpool and together with his good friend Phil Ower, teaches the periodontal component of the Royal College of Surgeons Restorative Diploma.
As well as being the Clinical Director at IDEAL, Paul is the Clinical Director and Owner of Rose Lane Dental Practice that incorporates the Liverpool Dental Specialist Centre.
Paul holds the Royal College (England) Diploma in Implant Dentistry and MSc (Implantology) from Queen Mary University of London and is a very experienced implant dentist and educator.
Paul is involved in post-graduate teaching both at Liverpool University Dental Hospital and nationally. He provides one-one surgical implant training for the post grads at Liverpool .
Qualified from Liverpool University in 1993. He moved to Manchester in 1997 to undertake a Masters degree in fixed and removable prosthodontics at the University Dental Hospital Manchester. The degree was awarded in 2000 and he gained his Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons in Glasgow, MFDS RCPS, in the same year. He completed a 4-year specialist training programme in Prosthodontics in 2004 and was also awarded the MRD (Prosthodontics) from the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, in the same year becoming registered on the GDC Specialist List in Prosthodontics.
His referral practice is based in Cheshire and is limited to prosthodontics (predominantly implant reconstructions), management of the worn and failing dentition. He is currently a lecturer in Restorative Dentistry at Birmingham University and lecturer at Manchester University where he is involved in the teaching of postgraduate students and supervising research projects.
Steven is a registered specialist in Prosthodontics and Restorative Dentistry. Prior to returning to specialist practice Steve was a Consultant in Restorative Dentistry based at The Liverpool University Dental Hospital. He currently works as a specialist Prosthodontist at the Rose Lane Dental Practice and the Garstang Dental Referral Practice.
Since returning to practice Steve has continued his professional development and attended courses taught by international experts in Restorative Dentistry. His has a particular interest in adhesive dentistry, the minimally invasive management of toothwear and adhesive reconstruction of posterior teeth.
Mike Sharland qualified with a Diploma in Photography in 1971, and spent 6 years working as a Medical Photographer, and 36 years as head of Head of Multimedia Services at the University of Birmingham School of Dentistry. He is now Technical Lead Clinical Photography at the University of Birmingham. He has taught Dental Photography to practitioners for over 30 years.
